Hello again!
I hope you had a great 4th of July weekend and recovered from the events well. As for me, I didn’t mind the fireworks that much, in fact I couldn’t care less. Yet I find many other things more amusing and worth to look at. But hey what do you expect? I am a cat after all.
So let’s go on with our journey from Secret Harbor. The decision was made to continue our journey north around the lake. On our way we found out that there was an interesting sight. Incline Village was home to the “Ponderosa Ranch” from the 1960′s TV Show Bonanza. Alex was interested in visiting it but after a bit of research, this was yet another impossible thing to do. The Ranch was purchased by a billionaire in 2004 and now private property. In case you are interested to find out more, here is the whole scoop. So we used the little bit of Internet connection available to us. I even worked on the blog.
After we all were fed and ready to move on we crossed the state line yet again sooner than expected. There was no good cell phone reception on our way except by a few of the casinos in the north. I find it quite amusing how they are placed exactly at the state lines. The poop scoopers decided to stop in Kings Beach, CA which is just behind the state line.
And the Stop sign at the road promised a Hammer Time!
The poop scoopers decided to go for a walk and explore the waterfront or at least watch the sunset on this lovely day as we arrived late in the evening. They got all excited to find out that it was apparently a popular spot for paragliders to land. And since Alex brought the camera, well you see for yourself.
The poop scoopers walked over to the pier and enjoyed the views.
When Garrick discovered more parachutes in the sky above the near by forest. Garrick and Alex both enjoyed watching them slowly coming down to earth.
When all of a sudden …
One of the Paragliders crashed into part of the pier. Not a pleasant sight! Garrick and Alex inquired if they needed help, but they assured them to be ok and not hurt. It was tandem paragliding and the pilot was explaining to the passenger that they must have swirled into an air pocket. So my poop scoopers stepped back and watched the scene. Was that passenger lady really ok? Or was she in shock? The pilot seemed fine and was up fast to get the parachute out of the tree.
As fast as they landed or shall I rather say crashed, they disappeared and the can openers stuck around to see the other ones land.
So after the other ones all landed safely on the beach it was time for us to move on and find a spot to overnight park the Boris. We found a parking spot a few miles down the road south in Tahoe City. It was a church parking lot in a quiet neighborhood, which even bared some sights according to my taste.
This was a lovely place I really enjoyed the views and was excited to find out that we’d stay for just another day. The poop scoopers had internet and were able to get some work done. But it was Saturday and since the church had service on Sunday morning, we all had to get up early and move to the next spot. While Alex was trying to find out on the cell phone to see where the next good stop with internet connection could be. Garrick was steering the Boris south. And we ended up in the mountains a spot that was promised to have great cell phone internet reception. Oh and did I mention, some pretty amazing views of Lake Tahoe.
The perfect spot to have breakfast and of course to enjoy the morning cup of coffee, for the can openers that is. Well, did we find the internet and cell phone reception that we needed? Stay tuned and find out in the next post here on my manifest. Meanwhile, you can view some more beautiful pictures of Lake Tahoe here on 7o2, Alex’s website for photography!
